Scripture Advent Calendar

Christmas is officially upon us, and I’m feeling it! Nothing builds the excitement for the 25th more than an advent calender.

Although I made this one without treats and goodies, I’m hoping it will help us feel even more Christmasy, with little quotes and scriptures about Him who’s birth we celebrate.

A little envelope for each little spiritual note, once opened I’ll to keep them displayed on the outside…hoping I’ll glance at it more than once throughout the day.

Kinda cute me thinks!

Daphane, Stefani, Dana and anyone else who is interested, here’s my scripture and quote list!

    D&C 88:7-11
Which truth shineth. This is the light of Christ. As also he is in the sun, and the light of the sun, and the power thereof by which it was made.
As also he is in the moon, and is the light of the moon, and the power thereof by which it was made; As also the light of the stars, and the power thereof by which they were made; And the earth also, and the power thereof, even the earth upon which you stand. And the light which shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings.

    2 Nephi 9:21
And he cometh into the world that he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice; for behold, he suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who belong to the family of Adam.

    Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

    Moroni 7:33
And Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me.

    3 Nephi 1:13
Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.

    2 Nephi 26:24
He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation.

    Matt 11.28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

    2 Nephi 31:20
20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

    John 14:14
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

    Gordon B. Hinckley
“Believe in Jesus Christ, our Savior and our Redeemer, the Son of God, who came to earth and walked the dusty roads of Palestine-the Son of God-to teach us the way of truth and light and salvation, and who, in one great and glorious act offered an atonement for each of us. He opened the way of salvation and exaltation for each of us, under which we may go forward in the Church and kingdom of God. Be not faithless, but believe in the great and wonderful and marvelous blessings of the Atonement.”

    David O. McKay
“True happiness comes only by making others happy—the practical application of the Savior’s doctrine of losing one’s life to gain it. In short, the Christmas spirit is the Christ spirit, that makes our hearts glow in brotherly love and friendship and prompts us to kind deeds of service.”

    Thomas S. Monson
“What will you and I give for Christmas this year? Let us in our lives give to our Lord and Savior the gift of gratitude by living His teachings and following in His footsteps. It was said of Him that He ‘went about doing good.’ As we do likewise, the Christmas spirit will be ours.”

    Ralph Waldo Emerson
The only gift is a portion of thyself.

    Charles Dickens
for it is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas, when its mighty Founder was a child himself. Charles Dickens

And our eyes at last shall see Him,
Through His own redeeming love,
For that Child so dear and gentle
Is our Lord in Heav’n above,
And He leads His children on
To the place where He is gone.

    Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth ” DONE 2

    Hark the herald angels sing
”Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled”
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
”Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark! The herald angels sing
”Glory to the newborn King!” DONE 2

    Norman Vincent Peale
Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.

    Charles Dickens
I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

    Ezra Taft Benson
The man [who] is greatest and most blessed and joyful [is one] whose life most closely approaches the pattern of Christ. This has nothing to do with earthly wealth, power, or prestige. The only true test of greatness, blessedness, joyfulness is how close can a life come to being like the Master, Jesus Christ. He is the right way, the full truth, and the abundant life”

    D+C 6:36
Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.

    Henry B Eyring
Great gift giving involves three things: you feel what the other feels, you give freely, and you count the sacrifice a bargain.
God the Father gave His Son, and Jesus Christ gave us the Atonement—gifts of unfathomable depth and value for us. Jesus gave His gift freely, willingly to us all. One of the sure signs of a person who has accepted the gift of the Savior’s Atonement is a willingness to give.

    Howard W. Hunter
“The true spirit of Christmas lies much
deeper than these. It is found in the life
of the Savior, in the principles He taught,
in His atoning sacrifice – which become
    our great heritage.”

    Luke 2:7
    And she brought forth her
    firstborn son, and wrapped
    him in swaddling clothes,
    and laid him in a manger;
    because there was no room
    for them in the inn.
