Thrifty Home Upgrades

Summer has gone by so fast, and we didn’t get everything done on our to-do list. However, we did make a dent and I for one am excited to get this last year of Brock back in school, over with!

We were planning on new molding up the stairs and landing, but we realized we didn’t want to spend the time or money this year, so instead we did a couple of fast and thrifty projects to tide us over.

This dry wall half wall, has been driving me crazy for five years. Brock spend a couple of evenings and $20 on supplies, to make it look nice and finished.

I choose some lights to replace the ugly one’s the builder put in. Light fixtures can be really pricey, that’s why we hadn’t upgrading sooner, but when I found THESE at Home Depot for only $10.97 I thought they were way cuter than the existing ones (which unfortunately I never took a photo of to show you).

I find it so rewarding to upgrade little pieces of your home. Even if it’s only temporary, it’s so worth it!

One of the great epiphanies from the last couple of years, is that you can have great style without breaking the bank. Your example is part of that revolutionary change in the way I see interior design. Thanks! :)

I know this is a pretty old post, but I would love if you could share more details on how the cap was put on the wall. Did you remove the sheet rock at all or just set it on top?
