Olay Moisturizer at Costco

Thursday, September 20th, 2012

Living is a desert takes its toll on your skin. You need an effective moisturizer that can you can use generously without costing an arm and a leg. I haven’t been a 100% happy with my usual moisturizer so was ready for a change.

At Costco I noticed a 2-pack of 6.0 oz Olay complete moisturizer for sensitive skin and thought for $16.68 I would give it a try.

I couldn’t be happier with the change, so of course I had to blog about it!

It’s a fraction of the cost of my regular moisturizer when you compare price per ounce, and overall I am more satisfied. Lightweight moisture, without being greasy or sticky as well as a reasonable price is a winning combination for me.

Do you have a winning combo moisturizer that you can’t live without?

Clearance Martha Stewart Cabinet Hardware

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

Last week I got to go to the design center and pick out all my colors and options for the new house.

I knew it would be easy to get carried away with all the beautiful upgrades and options so I tried hard to stick to the basics and upgrade only structural things that would be expensive to change later down the road.

For the kitchen, I chose dark cabinets with light granite. Even though I love white kitchens, it was the more expensive option so I decided to stay with traditional cabinets thinking of images like this in my head:

Cabinet hardware was an upgrade, so I opted out and figured we could do that ourselves after we move in.

After the design visit I headed over to The Home Depot to price out the first items on my shopping list; appliances and blinds…but ended up finding something much more fun instead!

 Martha Stewart gold handle $1.50

Martha Stewart gold knob $1.50

Yes, I accidentally walked past the hardware aisle and found a clearance bin. These guys used to be $4 each. Although, they probably wouldn’t have been my first choice, I think they will create a similar look to the kitchens above at a clearance price.

The hubs isn’t quite convinced of the brass yet, and for all of those who are with him, there are some really cute Martha Stewart nickel finish hardware on clearance too.

I am so excited for the first purchase for the new house! Now back to those appliances…

Martha Stewart Halloween Roundup

Before the age of blogs and Pinterest, my main source of holiday inspiration was from Martha Stewart. Her magazines were jam packed of ideas, mostly simple but all so chic.

These are still some of my faves:

These pictures are make me feel chilly and cozy all in one, and I often think how great it is to have seasons and holidays, they keep the year ticking and me constant state of excitement!

Thumb Tack Art

Monday, September 17th, 2012

More than anything else in the home, I struggle with wall space. I rarely find art work that I like and am always looking for ways to make the walls more interesting.

One day while browsing through Pinterest, I saw a great idea of using thumb tacks on canvases to create personalized art:

I had a pack of small canvases laying around and I picked up a pack of thumb tacks from the dollar store to give it a try..

I roughly measured and drew my letters on to the canvases with pencil and then followed along the pencil lines with thumb tacks.

Not exactly perfect, but super easy. If you accidentally pin wrong, you can simply adjust the tack as the tack head is usually large enough cover your mistake.

One more reason to love Pinterest, and a fun way to add a personal touch to your home.
