A Cheeky Fall Favor

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

We know, we know. Mason jars have been the ‘thing’ for many years, but we just can’t get enough of them. This brand from the Dollar Tree says “golden harvest” on the front with a cornucopia engraved on the glass. Em thought they’d be perfect for a fall favor.

We simply filled it with salted popcorn, and stamped “thanks for popping in” on a tag. Quite adorable don’t you think?!

There could be so many variations of this: perhaps caramel popcorn, or a different saying like “just wanted to pop by to say hi.” Either way, it’s cute and simple and sure to cheer up anyone’s day. :)

Draper House Master Bath Options

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

The next Draper house decision I am pondering is the master bathroom mirrors. The standard option is to get the huge, gargantuan mirror. I think it’s going to be a lot like Sarah’s with a double vanity, white counter tops and lights over each sink:

My cabinets will be a dark brown ‘java’ color though. I have mixed feelings about massive mirrors like these.

On one hand, it would be nice to be able to have a big mirror to see myself before headed out of the door in the morning (no large mirror currently in the apartment). It also would cost no additional money.

On the other hand, that is a big mirror and my husband is a big water splasher. I would have to clean that baby every day.  Also, their are so many fun options to be had to customize the master bath, I’m not sure if I can commit to the large mirror being glued to the wall.

Here are a few options I am contemplating. I would love any help and advise please!

Option 1: It has been very popular lately to add paneling to a large mirror and I love the look:

Option 2: Round mirrors. As you know, I LOVE THIS OPTION. I could easily be persuaded on pivot, oval mirrors too.

Option 3: Rectangle mirrors. Traditional, classic and never out of date.

Option 4: Medicine cabinets. I love our current medicine cabinet above our sink, it helps me stay so organized! I am a big fan of two cabinets hung next to each other:

Do you have a preference in bathroom mirrors? What do you think is the best choice considering both aesthetics and functionality?

Two-Minute Fall Banner

Monday, October 22nd, 2012

I have been making a few changes to transition the apartment into the winter months and had a craving to make something with felt to cozy things up for the season.

As I usually have zero tolerance for crafts as my DIY’s usually result in a less than desirable result, I didn’t want to waste any time so I tried to keep it as simple as possible.

I used what I had: Brown felt, brass fasteners and twine and simply cut the sheet of felt into 4 pieces with a flag edge, folded the felt over the twine and secured in place with the brass fasteners.

It is simple and looks great on the stairs, but best of all took no time or money whatsoever. The felt is usually around $.20/sheet at a craft store, and the fasteners are less that $2 at any grocery store. I like it so much, I’m planning on a gold + cream version for Christmas. Well worth a few minutes, don’t you think?!

Christmas Cards at Target

Friday, October 19th, 2012

Christmas is literally just around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about Christmas cards!

Sarah and I go nuts for pretty stationary at a pretty price and Target is yet again fitting the bill with new Green Inspired christmas cards.

Joy To The World card

Noel card

Happy Holidays red christmas card

Season’s Greetings blue and red christmas card

I am getting all merry and bright at the thoughts of these cards, especially for $7 for a 16-count pack. Craazzy price! The green inspired collection also has packs of little notebooks in the stationary aisle that would make wonderful little presents for Christmas.

For only $3 for the set, they would be adorable individually or collectively.

Have you started thinking about christmas yet? what are you getting excited for?

New Coats

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

Normally I would be very unhappy to wake up on my birthday to rain clouds and blustery wind, but not this birthday…

Haha, I’m such a poser when Sarah is behind the camera! Cold weather meant I got to wear my new, lovely Michael Kors coat that the mam and paps got me for the big 3-0. I had to blog about it because Sarah and Mum found it for 75% off at Nordstrom Rack! The Rack has such a great selection right now. If you need a new coat, start here. Thanks Mum and Dad, I l-o-v-e it!

On another note, a five minute trip to Walmart over the weekend resulted in an equestrian find. An English/horsey jacket is something I’ve been coveting for Fall. Not the most flattering, but for $18.96 I will come and clean out the stables in it.

ps. The black is way cuters, but the green matched my wellies :)

p.p.s. I just realized, two coats in one week?! I got majorly spoiled this week! Thanks peeps for making the big birthday extra special xxx
