DIY Sunburst Mirror

When I first came up with this idea I thought I was genius, but then I showed Em and she was like “that’s already all over pinterest!”

Boo. I hate not being as original as I think I am, but I still love this project and can’t believe it cost under $2 and only took about an hour. I’m really loving it above our bed.

To Make You Will Need:

glue gun

glue sticks

10″ cardboard circle (just cut from shipping box, free!)

7″ mirror (got mine HERE, and used 40% off coupon so about $1.25 per mirror)

About 40 paint stir sticks (just ask for them at Home Depot, I offered to pay, but they were happy to give for free…yippee)

.

Directions:

Glue mirror onto cardboard circle

Then start glueing the sticks onto the cardboard, aline with mirror as much as possible

If the last one is a tight squeeze, just sand down to fit

First layer all done looks like this:

Then just start the next layer, trying to center between 2 sticks at a time…

And that’s it! All done, and looking beautiful!

If you wanted to it would look great painted, but I was loving the natural wood look.

Worthy of an hour don’t you think?!

DS- These velcro command strips are our faves to hang things:

Are you willing to share where you found your bed? It’s beautiful and I’m looking for one that’s a little more unique than what I’ve seen so far.

    Love the sunburst mirror project!

Meredith my bed is a pottery barn one, but I got it at a local discount store. Here’s the link: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/antonia-canopy-bed/?pkey=e%7Cbed%7C105%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C17&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-Sku_Top_Marketing_Rule-_-

We like to mix things up, so in this post the top bars were off.

    Hope this helps!
