Emily’s Christmas Decorations 2013

I was so excited to put up our tree and decorate the front room for Christmas in the new house!

I started by using most of my Halloween decorations I already had out and added layers of garlands, gold foliage and ribbon on the bookcase. I always try to keep it simple, but before long I undoubtedly add layers upon layers and end up with something a little over-the-top.

Next, I rearranged the sofas so I could have the tree be in our front window. I did keep the tree extra simple this year with nothing but basic gold ornaments and I think it balances out the over-the-top bookcase nicely.

My favorite thing on the tree this year are those glittery feathers I found at Hobby Lobby.

Lastly, I added a few garland swags on the curtain rods, a few shimmery pillows and a bowl of ornaments for the coffee table.

Tonight I’m going to wrap presents by the tree and listen to Christmas music, can’t wait! It’s finally beginning to feel like Christmas around here!

Thanks ladies!! Sarah’s photography always makes everything look good :) Lori, the pom pom pillows are Kate Spade that I found at Nordstrom Rack. They had been there forever, so my Mum decided to take them up to the register to see if they’d been discounted any more than the price tag. Guess how much they rang up at. $.01. ONE CENT!!!!!!! My favorite bargain story EVER!!!

[…] And finally, don’t forget the top of your bookcase. Drape a beautiful garland of boxwood or cedar across it and add LED lights on a timer for an evening twinkle light display. Source […]
