Em’s Everyday Makeup

When I got married I had baggage alright…bins and bins full of expensive makeup!

Once I had to start budgeting with someone else I started experimenting with cheaper makeup instead of my usual expensive brands..

Five years later and I’ve narrowed down my everyday makeup to just five items that I love, love love!

Neutrogena sunscreen: This sunscreen not only protects my face from the sun but also is a great moisturizer before applying makeup. Both Costco and Target often have this on sale.

Covergirl concealer: For those northern European bags under my eyes. This is as good as anything I’ve tried…which has been a lot! Available at any drugstore.

Guerlain bronzing powder: Now I am super white because of all that sunscreen, I defo need THIS bronzer. This is my one ‘worth the splurge’ makeup product. I apply a little all over my face and a little extra on the apples of my cheeks and nose instead of using blush. I have tried lots of cheaper bronzers and nothing looks as good, and this one lasts at least a year. Do you have any good ones to recommend? Sarah also raves about this product, see HERE.

Wet n Wild eyeshadow in ‘Nutty’: THIS $.99 eyeshadow is amazing! I was a MAC eyeshadow girl for many years and this is just as good… I just use it to line the outer corners of my eyes. Available at Rite Aid/Walgreens.

Maybelline ‘full n soft’ mascara: Non-clumpy mascara that can be layered and comes off really easily at night. I hate sticky mascaras. Available at any grocery/or drugstore.

My routine takes less than five minutes, lasts just as long and looks just as good as the products I used to use.

Have you had any great finds with inexpensive makeup? Please share!

I LOVE my NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in “Gleam” It gives my cheeks and bridge of the nose a subtle rosy glow, just a little shimmer. (Ulta)

I so agree with Maybelline Full ‘N Soft. I’ve used it for years, and it never disappoints. I’m also a fan of the Wet ‘N Wild Nutty. I discovered it last year after discovering that it was an almost identical match to Chanel’s Safari (which is $29!)

Have you tried Flower Beauty? It’s Drew Barrymore’s line–great prices, made in the U.S., simple ingredients, amazing colors, and feels amazing on!

I’m with you on the mascara! Every time I try something new, I always come back to full and soft. I’m wondering about the eyeshadow. Is it just that one color by Wet and Wild that is good? I’m a MAC girl but I could stand to spend $14 less on each eyeshadow!

Thanks ladies! Anne, I need a rosy glow (esp in the winter months) getting it on my next trip to Ulta, thanks! Kelsea, I had no idea about this line, I’ll check it out. Thanks! Krista-I haven’t tried any other colors, because I’m so happy with this one as an everyday neutral, for $.99 you may as well check them out! Often Rite Aid and Walgreens have buy one get one half off etc, which is good when you want to try a few.
