Em’s Christmas Decorations 2014: Formal Living Room + Tree

Hi everyone! We hope you had a great weekend. We had flurries of snow yesterday, which is making things feel very Christmassy around here!

Today I’m excited to share our living room decorations, which were inspired by our Christmas card by Tiny Prints.

I loved how the soft golden tones of the photo looked against the shiny black foil and decided I needed this look in my living room too!

I started with a yard of black and gold striped fabric that I found at Savers for $1.99. Sarah gave me the idea HERE to cut it up into strips to make bows which is so much cheaper than buying multiple spools of ribbon!

Next, I needed to add white and creams to my traditional gold ornaments. We found these large paper mache ornaments from Hobby Lobby for $2 each and painted them white. I also bought white poinsettia and cream magnolia flowers on clips from The Dollar Tree, that I especially love on the garland.

Lastly, I made modern starburst ornaments for the tree which I’m featuring on Tiny Print’s blog today HERE.

They were so easy, cheap and gave my tree a wow factor it needed!

We are loving cuddling up with blankets in this room each night to read stories to Jane. She’s obsessed with the twinkly lights, and it makes me feel like my little effort was so worth it!
