Em’s Toy Closet Organization

It didn’t take us too long at all to realize toys, although fun, can be a nightmare!

Loose toys laying around in every room really make the house feel messy and dirty even when its not!

Last week we tackled all of Jane’s toys over at Em’s place.

Jane mostly plays in Em’s family room (HERE), which has this closet she was using to store all of of her entertaining supplies (see HERE).

Our number one tip when we organize kitchens is to remove all items that are not used on a weekly basis.
We did just that and packed up all the extra dishes in 56 quart bins labeled ‘platters’, ‘crystal’ etc and sent them down to the basement to be stored.

We left my most often used cake stands up on the top shelf, but now had most of a closet free for toys!

Next we divided toys into groups and sizes.

Art supplies and little toys up on the top in 6 quart tubs HERE, medium sized toys and puzzles in the middle. Lastly, bulky, heavy toys at the bottom.

We found the cutest wire baskets with chalkboard labels at the dollar spot in Target for only $3 each!

It feels so nice to have all the toys behind one door at the end of the night and has made it easier to manage in the day as Jane only has a few toys out at a time instead of having everything down on her level!

This project was so fun and felt so good when we were done. The hardest part is always getting started!

How do you keep things from being a jungle of toys at your house?

We need your mommy tips!!!!
