Worth the Spurge: Bunnies by the Bay Dream Coats

Thursday, December 31st, 2015

Even though Christmas season is almost officially over, we’d like to share one of our favorite gifts ever!

When I was pregnant with the girlies, we had a hard time not buying everything in sight, but when my mum came across these dream coats we fell in LOVE!

“Once within this dreamy coat, Danced a dainty lass. Remembering all the glad dreams, To her daughter, the coat will pass.”

Sure the soft coat is truly dreamyyyy, and the bunny-eared hat is to die for. Oh and lets not forget the bunny hand muff! But what really got me was the embroidered message inside the coat:

“Once within this dreamy coat, Danced a dainty lass. Remembering all the glad dreams, To her daughter, the coat will pass.”

It may of been the pregnancy hormones, but I teared up!!!

My ladies wore theirs all last winter and was pleasantly surprised when we pulled them out this fall that they still fit! (all but the hat).

Now they are more aware of how soft and cuddly these coats are, and I often find them with their faces snuggled into their arms.

I can’t wait to enjoy these coats for just a few more months, but look forward to packing them back in their keepsake boxes ready one day for their little ones.

If your looking for a special gift, this one is a winner and we had to share Click HERE, to see!

Last Minute Gift Ideas

Monday, December 21st, 2015

I almost had a heart attack a few days ago when a gift idea I had for most of the people on my list fell through…sheer panic!

I turned to our blog archives to help me re-group and think of a new idea…

When you have a lot of people on your list we always try to keep it consistent and simple!

It’s all about a gesture of love and doesn’t have to be an out-of-the box, amazing new idea that usually brings all the stress of gift-giving.

Here are are a few of our favorite gift options:

Individual candy boxes

Buy candy boxes in bulk and fill with homemade chocolates (recipe HERE), special candy like Sees pictured above, or even candy from the grocery store! Also love this idea with roasted almonds (HERE) or even fruit (HERE). Packaging and a nice treat can go a long way. Candy boxes HERE or you can usually find them at the craft store.

Family Photos

These days it’s getting harder and harder to get actual photographs into frames and in our homes. A photo print and an inexpensive frame is a perfect gift. I know this is one of my favorite gifts to receive (see HERE).

Movie Tickets

Everyone loves the movies, so buy gift cards for a movie or two for everyone. So easy and so great for kids and adults alike.

Something Crazy

One year, our brother thought it would be crazy to buy the each family member a nerf gun for Christmas. He was right! Christmas night family nerf gun fight will forever be ingrained in our memories!

Homemade Gift

THESE candles were so much easier to make than we thought they were going to be. Cute Christmas ribbon and a Christmas scent would make these so fun! Homemade granola (HERE) is another idea that’s the perfect luxury on a cold and crispy morning. English scones HERE are another Christmas classic that you can never go wrong with!

I’m happy to say I have my gifts under control…now I just need to wrap them all!

Do you have any great gift ideas you’re excited to give this year? Please share!!!!

Peppermint Meringues

Friday, December 18th, 2015

You guys! Have you tried making your own meringues yet?
Here’s one more attempt to convince you!

Easy, amazingly delicious and the perfect thing to wow all your holiday guests with this festive twist…

THIS recipe is our favorite. We crushed up 4 candy canes and folded them in gently before baking and spoon small rounds on our parchment rather than one large pavlova.

After cooling, we drizzled with chocolate for extra decadence.

Keep in an airtight container to keep nice and fresh for up to two weeks.

What’s your favorite thing to make this Christmas? If you feel you want to mix it up this year, we promise these will not disappoint!

Personalized Christmas Wrapping

Wednesday, December 16th, 2015

As always my siblings are getting all the same gift, so I thought it would be fun to personalize the wrapping with these german glitter alphabet ornaments from Pottery Barn (HERE).

We like that no skill or special talent is required…these pretty ornaments do all the talking and dazzle on their own to make any gift a little more exciting.

Plus it’s a little extra gift to hang on the tree next year!
