Holiday Decorating with Toddlers: Sarah’s Living Room

The twins curiosity right now has peaked and as Sarah has one main living/family room she opted NOT to put up her big tree for Christmas this year…GASP!

Don’t worry, Sarah is the queen of Christmas and glitter and made the place look beautiful without the usual focal point.

To create this look she took a basic artificial pre-lit garland from Target HERE and spray-painted it like Em dusted her artificial tree HERE. She then layered it with ribbon, sprays and a few large and non-breakable decorations.

She still wanted at least a little tree, so opted for a small one she could put out of reach from the twins.

We actually love that the focal point of the room is the bookcase with the nativity scene…which makes it a little easier to remember the reason for the season!

Do you have any great ways to decorate for Christmas with children?
Please share, we’d love to hear what works well!

Absolutely love this! With a curious toddler of my own this year, we’ve also opted not to have a big Christmas tree. Also, I must ask, where did you get that gorgeous b+w rug/runner?!

  2. Emily Says:

Hi Stephanie, thanks for your comment. The runner is from Target. Here is the link: http://www.target.com/p/aztec-fleece-area-rug-threshold/-/A-16696044#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=aztec+runner

Love the nativity focus ! The little tree is beautifully done. One more thing to keep your twins safe…. Removing the dangling cord seen behind the white tree.

Hi Bonnie, thanks for your comment, don’t worry, the blinds were just all the way up for the photo…no cords for the babies to get caught up in. Thanks for your concern and for reading boxwood clippings :)
