A Spring Baby Shower
There’s something about the anticipation of Spring that makes throwing parties this time of year a little more exciting, don’t you agree? Our baby brother and his wife, Sam and Sally are expecting their first baby next month and we are all giddy waiting for baby Alice’s arrival.
The sun came out a few Saturdays ago and we had a glorious afternoon with Sally’s lady friends and family, talking only of childbirth, brand new babies and first time parenthood… our idea of heaven!
Sally with her Mom and Grandma…
We always try to keep the menu as simple as possible for showers. We want to spend every second of the shower relaxing with guests and not in the kitchen, so we always make sure to serve food that can all be prepped and laid out before guests arrive. We served a strawberry salad (HERE), spinach, bacon and egg salad HERE, fruit and chocolate strawberries (HERE). Our Mum made an amazing cheese board with all of our favorite British cheeses and our sis, Helen (pictured with her two girls above) had the great idea to order our favorite carrot cake, which was a huge hit.
Our decorating theme was flowers… large paper ones we borrowed from a friend and fresh tulips dotted through the space.
Many of our guests were traveling to the shower so instead of doing our favorite flower favor (HERE) we sent guests home with a wild flower kit (Flower pots and seeds from the dollar store and top soil bundled in fabric pouches). Sally’s family and ours share a love of the Beetles so we added a quote from John Lennon, “Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow”.
Many hands make light work and hosting with a few people can really make showers so much easier and stress free.
This was such a special day for us all, we couldn’t help but look around and realize how lucky Alice is already to have such wonderful women in her life. You are loved beyond measure baby girl!
