Holler Dollar: Beatrix Potter Colouring Books and Jigsaw

We love Beatrix Potter throughout the year, but especially at Easter.

Now at Targets Dollar Spot you can find all kinds of goodies with her beautiful illustrations, any of which would be ideal to add to an Easter basket.

Holler Dollar: Cellophane

Thursday, February 27th, 2014

This post is a little random, but too handy not to share…

I just HATE spending money on things I don’t want to spend money on! Cellophane, tin foil, toilet paper all fall into this category, but at the same time, I am willing to spend the extra amount to get the quality, coz let’s face it thin TP is not fun. :)

Anyhow, I’m proud to say I’ve found the best of both worlds with this cellophane from The Dollar Tree. Not only is it only $1, but it actually works, and sticks and everything!!!

So be sure to add this to your dollar store shopping list, you’ll love me for it…pinky promise!

Holler Dollar: $1 Cards at Trader Joe’s

Thursday, January 16th, 2014

Usually I like to make my own cards, it’s personal and thrifty, but some birthdays just sneak up on me and it’s time to head to the store.

Trader Joe’s has a little collection of greeting cards that are all $1, and really cute. If you’re not into making yours, I highly recommend going and stocking up. That way they’ll be on hand and just waiting for a little message and a stamp.

Little things like this make me feel organized and slightly on top of things, and you’ve got to love that!!!

Holler Dollar: Glass Bowls

Thursday, January 9th, 2014

When we were little we used to pretend we were chefs on a cooking show. We would imagine having all of our ingredients measured out perfectly ready and waiting in little glass bowls, ready for the moment they would be needed on the show.

Well our dreams became a reality when I was wondering around The Dollar Tree a few days ago. Three perfect little glass bowls 3 for $1!!! Holler!!!

At this price, I had to snatch up 12! I’m thinking they would be great little bowls to hold dressing and garnishings for the dinner table, but most importantly Sarah and I have a cooking show to create!

The Dollar Spot at Target is always its best around the holidays. I can’t get over these finds for only $1…holler!!!

Chalk board pen:

We’ve been on the hunt for this bad boy since the chalk board trend began, but could only find pricey versions, we couldn’t believe this one was only $1. They are soooo much easier to write with over chalk, so go get yourself one or two!

Always remember (especially at this pricey time of year), you don’t have to spend a lot to get the cute stuff :)

Holler Dollar: Target Gift Wrap

Thursday, October 17th, 2013

I know it’s unusual to post two holler dollars in a row. This one wasn’t suppose to be published for another week or two, but when we went to Target today, we saw these were no longer $1 but down to ¢50…CRAY CRAY!!!

These Spritz wrapping papers are adorable, and come in these cool colours along with some warmer pinks and reds. For under a buck it’s the perfect time to restock your wrapping stations.

They even have boxes and bags to match all at ¢50, and some of the cutest wrapping trimmings I’ve ever seen.

If you’re on your way to the store, be sure to go check them out. :)

Holler Dollar: Cutest Toblerone Ever!

Wednesday, October 16th, 2013

Toblerone chocolate is simply some of the best around. Although the giant bars they sell at the airport get me giddy with one look, there’s something about the mini miniature version that has me dying with it’s cutness. Awe!

These run around $1.25 at Target, but I was happy to see them this week at my local Dollar Tree, yippee!

Only the size of a pencil, the triangle pieces are adorbs!

Such a perfect little gift for just $1, don’t you think?!

Question: If you saw a giant bar of chocolate abandoned but unopened, would you pick it up? This happen to Em and I three years ago in London, and we were quite hysterical about our unexpected treat!

Holler Dollar: Trader Joe’s Soap

Thursday, October 10th, 2013

I think I have found the best holler dollar around… Trader Joe’s Oatmeal and Honey Soap. This pure vegetable soap with no harsh chemicals smells of milky cinnamon, helping me feel very fall-y and melting my daily stressors away at the same time. It’s creamy texture makes it perfect to sub for shaving cream and leaves my skin clean and soft.

I am planning to wrap these up in fabric and give them as gifts for Christmas this year, which I am really excited about. At $1.69 for a two pack, they work out to be only $.85 each! I can’t wait for everyone to try them.

Read more about this soap HERE. Thanks Trader Joe’s, you really are my favorite!!

On my last trip to the dollar tree I stopped in my tracks when I saw this pretty wrapping paper…

I am obsessed with this thick craft paper with golden stars and may have to use it in mass quantities for Christmas this year.

Holler Dollar: Children’s Classic Books

Thursday, August 29th, 2013

When I was little, I was not the best reader. However, my parents had a cunning plan to make all their kids love books…and that was to let us stay up an extra hour IF we were reading. I quickly learnt how to fall in love stories, and the work of reading each word eventually disappeared.

Right now at Target they have these charming classic books in their dollar spot. $1 are you kidding me? Obviously, the stories are amazing, but I’m really also impressed with the book designs, seriously adorbs!

Not too early to be thinking about stocking stuffers! Hint hint!

Holler Dollar: Tiny Brown Glass Bottle

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

Brock thinks this is way over the top, but I HATE the look of his allergy pills. I try and put them in the medicine cupboard but he says if they’re not out, he forgets to take them.

On a recent trip to a health store (Good Earth) I saw these cute little bottles for just 90¢, and knew it was a solution to our little issue.

Now we’re both happy, cute bottle for me and accessible for him. Another simple pleasure and problem solved!

Wouldn’t it be cute to redo your whole medicine cabinet? Brown bottles all lined up…

Holler Dollar: V05 Shampoo + Conditioner

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

For those of you with thin straight hair, this Holler Dollar is for you! Introducing my favorite shampoo + conditioner V05′s Extra Body Combo…
boxwood clippings_holler dollar_v05

Unfortunately or fortunately for me expensive shampoo’s and conditioner’s  take all the life out of my hair making it more limp and almost impossible to even tie in a pony. My hair is naturally very soft and silky which is usually not something to complain about, but sometimes it’s maddening  to work with.

By much experiment, I’ve found the ‘cheaper’ shampoo’s on the market to be better for my hair, they actually give my hair some volume without weighing it down and yes it’s a major HOLLER that my favorite turn’s out to be only a $1 or under if on sale.

Do you have favorite beauty products for around a buck? Do share!

10 Things You Should Be Buying From The Dollar Tree

Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013

You know how much we love the Dollar Tree but not everything in there is worthy of a dollar.

Here are 10 things that most certainly are….

Boxwood Clippings_10 things you should be buying from the dollar store

No. 1 Toiletries: deodorant, cotton balls, and even imported soap from our Mother land, quite impressive for $1.

No.2 Balloons: I love giving a bouquet of balloons, and this is the place to go. Foil ones (filled) $1 each, regular come in a pack.

No. 3 Stationary: These mini clip boards are adorable. Tape and envelopes are also on my list.

No. 4: Light bulbs: I know this is not green friendly, but I really really dislike LED bulbs I much prefer the old fashioned ones, 3 for $1. (Don’t worry, I’m very environmentally friendly in other areas :)

No. 5: Disposable Diaper Bags: in England we call these ‘nappy sacks’ and EVERY MOTHER uses them in her nappy changing routine. Here, the only place we’ve seen them in the Dollar Tree, they are amazing at keeping nasty smells away. They are even handy for those of us with out kids, we keep them in the car and us them as mini trash bags, so handy!

No.6: Ribbon: Grosgrain is my fave. 5 yards for $1 holler!

No.7: Jars: We’ve talked about them before HERE, we just love them!

No.8: Vases: Also, mentioned HERE, so versatile.

No.9: Disposable Table Wear: Perfect for incorporating colour in a party, and makes for an easy clean up.

No.10: Wrapping Paper: Brown is a perfect neutral, but if you want an assortment of colours it’s also the place to shop.

If you’re on a budget and feel like you need a shopping spurge it’s a good place to go, you can go crazy and not feel guilty at all :)
