10 Things We Buy at Paper Source

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

Our first visits to Paper Source were pretty magical! We adore this store! Paper Source offers basic gift and craft supplies, one of a kind gift ideas items, as well as all of our favorite stationary brands such as Rifle Paper Company, Snow & Graham, and Cavallini. Here are the things we buy:

10 things from paper source

1. Craft kits: We can’t wait to make all THESE adorable crafts with our girls. Isn’t THIS wreath kit impressive?!

2. Ribbon: THIS is Em’s favorite ribbon EVER!

3. Greeting Cards: We save more expensive greeting cards for milestone birthdays and anniversaries. Loving THIS one. They also offer packs of cards at a great price, but they sell out quick! THIS card is only $12.50 for a pack of 10.

4. Stickers: A very cheap and easy way to make your own cards, gift tags, place settings etc. We love THESE basic b+w ones. 24 for $2.50.

5. Calendars: Even now most of our scheduling is on google calendar, Paper Source convinces us every year we still need a beautiful one too! See the full selection of 2015 calendars HERE. Em uses hers exclusively as a birthday calendar…see HERE.

6. Gift wrap basics: We love Paper Source’s selection of basic gift wrap, especially for favors and Christmas. We love THESE clear, fold-over and food-safe cellophane bags. 100 count for $6! Loving THIS Christmas gift wrap set from Cavillini. See all gift wrap HERE.

7. Pens: THIS one is our current fave, and seriously makes our handwriting a little better! $1.95

8. Single sheets of wrapping paper: We rarely use these pretty papers to actually wrap gifts. Instead we frame them and hang them as art. THIS one is going in Jane’s room.

9. Twine: Lasts forever. Amazing price! See HERE.

10. Gift Ideas: The store and website is filled with great gift ideas. We love THIS tea towel, THIS art set for the kiddies, and a good notebook is always a good idea!

I was so happy when I found this one by Bunnies By the Bay. First off, it’s the cutest thing ever, with adorable illustrations, but most of all I love how easy it’s been to record all the little details I don’t want to forget about my two little ladies.

Custom Printable Invitations: Em’s Baby Shower

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014

Em’s shower was planned at the very last minute, since we had a surprise visit from Hels, our other sissy. With hardly anytime, we needed the invitations to go out as fast as possible, but we still wanted something custom and (obviously) very cute!

We hit up Etsy and found the Sunday Designs Shop, which is TOTALLY ADORABLE! They offer a great collection of printable invitations. There are sooooo many cute designs, the only hard part about the process is choosing which one you like best!

We chose the Antique Pram Shower Invite, which reminded us of our British roots! Next, we just emailed our information over, and within a day or so they emailed us a pdf.

We printed them over at FedEx Office, on thick card stock and cut them to size.

For well under $20, we had our perfect, cute and custom invites ready to go. You can’t beat that!

Worth the Splurge: Etsy Valentine Cards

Monday, February 3rd, 2014

I am a hopeless romantic, so I love a cheeky Valentine’s card. It’s one of the only times of the year to formally celebrate love, so even though pretty letter-pressed and handmade cards can cost a little more and you have to pay for shipping, I say it’s well worth the little extra!

I usually am too late to order from Etsy by the time I think about Valentine’s, so I thought I’d post this extra early to let you see a few clever cards that we can all order with time to spare for v-day.

DIY Abstract Valentine Cards

Tuesday, January 21st, 2014

We are in a hurry around here to get lots of things done before Sarah’s babies get here! Sarah had the most brilliant idea for the fastest and most original Valentine’s cards.

DIY Abstract Valentine Cards

We simply lay card stock onto scrap paper and started swirling around craft paint.

DIY Abstract Valentine Cards

With no paint brushes required, we had a blast making a mess with pink and metallic paints.

DIY Abstract Valentine Cards

We let them dry overnight and then folded them in half for a simple card.

DIY Abstract Valentine Cards

We love how these turned out, all that texture and sheen!

Best of all these were so inexpensive and only took only 2 minutes!!! We think kids would absolutely love this project, easy enough for a two year old, fun enough for a 14-year old!

Holler Dollar: $1 Cards at Trader Joe’s

Thursday, January 16th, 2014

Usually I like to make my own cards, it’s personal and thrifty, but some birthdays just sneak up on me and it’s time to head to the store.

Trader Joe’s has a little collection of greeting cards that are all $1, and really cute. If you’re not into making yours, I highly recommend going and stocking up. That way they’ll be on hand and just waiting for a little message and a stamp.

Little things like this make me feel organized and slightly on top of things, and you’ve got to love that!!!

Tuesday, December 31st, 2013

We were thrilled to discover Sugar Paper products this week at Target!!! We know we are late on the boat with this one, but we thought it was definitely worth the shout-out for any of you who haven’t heard yet either!

Not only do we always adore Sugar Paper’s gorgeous designs and style, but now we can L-O-V-E them with Target price tags! Holler!!!

Honestly we were spoiled for choice and can’t think of a prettier way to start the new year!

Holler Dollar: Festive Finds at Target

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013

The Dollar Spot at Target is always its best around the holidays. I can’t get over these finds for only $1…holler!!!

Stickers, tags and ribbons to spruce up your gift wrap:

Chalk board pen:

We’ve been on the hunt for this bad boy since the chalk board trend began, but could only find pricey versions, we couldn’t believe this one was only $1. They are soooo much easier to write with over chalk, so go get yourself one or two!

Always remember (especially at this pricey time of year), you don’t have to spend a lot to get the cute stuff :)

Affordable Thank You Cards at Target

Tuesday, November 19th, 2013

It is the season of thanksgiving and Target has it in for me with its vast display of jewel-toned and gold-foiled thank you notes. How’s a girl supposed to control herself when a set of 10 only costs $3.99?

I love the idea of writing thank you notes in November, just because. A perfect time of year to express gratitude to those around you. Now I’m giving you the perfect excuse to buy these little beauties:

Sarah’s Christmas Cards from Tiny Prints

Wednesday, November 13th, 2013

Our Christmas cards from Tiny Prints arrived last week. I was giddy as soon as I saw the package on the door step!

This year my goal is to simplify simplify everything Christmas…the decorating down to the gift wrap; so it was perfect that we could just pick out a cool design plug in a photo and have Tiny Prints do the rest of the work!

boxwood clippings_tiny prints

Brock is only picking about a few things regarding house and home, and one of his requests is that our Christmas cards mention Christmas! When I’m shopping in the stores, a “Christmas” card is not always my first choice as far as design goes, that’s why we loved this option of customizing all aspects of our card, so we added this great quote by President Hinckley on the inside.

These cards inspired a whole black + white theme this year, so I came up with some easy diy wrapping to match. Be sure to head over to Tiny Prints blog to check out the details (HERE).

Cheapo Notebooks

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

I love this time of year when the stores are lined with school supplies, eeek time to stock up!

boxwood clippings_cheap notebooks

My list is always: paper, glue sticks, containers, pens, and sharpies

But top of that list is something I can’t live without, 1 subject notebooks, or as I like to call them my cheapo notebooks. I use them everyday, they keep me on track with all my lists and then when everything is checked off, rip…it’s in the trash, and onto the next page.

They usually priced at just $1, but tend to go on sale too. I usually pay around 10¢ – 20¢, so when they’re low I stock up.

Another good use is, I have one for each of my nephews so when they come around, they can get it out and do some drawing, I think it’s fun to have something here waiting for them.

So little and so simple :)

7. Wait a few moments until it’s dried off then set it under a heavy stack of books or magazines. Place some white paper on top of it to protect it.

I hope you find this little tutorial helpful, and your inspired to create your won little works of art. :)

Deal Alter: Martha Stewart Sticker Sale!

Tuesday, March 5th, 2013

It was about this time last year when we posted about Martha’s new line at Staples (see HERE). Since then we’ve been recommending them to everyone. They are just too cute, and finish any organization project off nicely.

Anyhow, many of her stickers are now on sale. I got all the packets below for only 50¢ each.

Sarah’s Organization Project: Birthday Cards

Monday, February 11th, 2013

My organization project was really just for the house, but I’ve really caught the bug and nowhere is off limits. :)

Being part of a big family, we have LOTS of birthdays and they are so hard to keep track of. I use THIS system Em blogged about a few years back. But also found having a list somewhere I see daily helps me pop them in the post on time.

Over at The Project Girl, she has a great free printable (see HERE).

I also emailed my family a copy…now there’s no excuse!
