Worth the Splurge: World’s Best Sippy Cup, Lollacups!

Thursday, April 9th, 2015

Do you guys watch Shark Tank?

Love that show.

Anyhow, a few years back they had on the inventors of the Lollacup, a sippy cup with a weighted straw that allowed it’s young users easier accessibility to their drink. I was sold on the spot (as were the Sharks) and made a mental note to get one when I eventually had a baby.

Fast forward to having TWINS! With double the fun comes double the cost, and since these lil bad boys run at $16 each, I dragged my feet. Fortunately, Santa knew best and my girls got theirs at Christmas. Then 10 months old and still not successfully using any sippy we introduced the Lollacup. After just a couple of ‘practice sessions’ they got the hang of it and haven’t looked back.

We just use it for water, but it’s seriously the girls favorite treat of the day. They just love using the straw, and I love their independence.

They make the cutest faces while sucking too, and have to come up for a big gasp of air!

We’ve officially added this to our list of “must-haves” and would much rather have one good cup than a dozen crappy ones!

PS. Just a reminder that this WAS NOT a sponsored post, I just got really really giddy about this find! Nerdy Mama!

Worth the Splurge: Sophie La Giraffe

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

I’d seen this little Sophie everywhere, but a rubber toy for $25. I don’t think so!

Randomly, my little ones both started teething around the 3 month mark. Not having much control over their little fingers they had a hard time holding onto things, so their hands became their only teething toy.

Luckliy, Nanny knew better and turned up one day with a pressy for each of the patients. The toy I swore we’d never own!

Little Sophie is magical, and my girls are both in love.

I wonder did her creator know exactly what he was doing? Her leg size make it perfect for tiny fingers to grasp, making her the 1st and only toy my little ladies could hold on to for quite sometime.

They really go to town, and I love hearing the soft squeaky noises of their gums while chewing the rubber.

.

I guess next time, I should not be so stubborn. And trust that if something has been around for about 50 years, it’s be tried and tested and is still winning…

go Soph!

Worth the Splurge: Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner

Thursday, May 29th, 2014

We all have good hair days, and not so good hair days, but this Pureology shampoo and conditioner duo are the best I’ve ever used at giving my hair consistent results.

boxwoodclippings_purology hydrate shampoo and conditioner

Instead of layering lots of products, these two protect alone keep the ends of my hair hydrated, tame my tangles easily, and still give me the volume and look I want. My hair smells and feels so nice when I use these products!

They are definitely a splurge, but when you buy in bulk it really reduces the cost. For example these 1/2 gallon sizes should last about a year, so isn’t really that expensive when you break it down.

If you haven’t tried these products before give a little travel size sample a try and see how you like it before you commit to the bulk sizes.

Do you have any hair products you are loving lately?

Worth The Splurge: Williams-Sonoma Organic Waffle Towels

Thursday, March 13th, 2014

Anyone knows I get a little too enthusiastic about linens. Kitchen tea towels are no exception. I don’t know about you but it just drives me crazy when I get a clean kitchen towel out of the dryer and it still has stains on it… even with a pre-wash stain treatment. Arrg! Out to the rag pile it goes…

Introducing the best kitchen towel in the universe….

Williams-Sonoma Organic Waffle-Weave Towels

Not only are these practically stain-resistant they are also incredibly absorbent, dry in a jiffy and are huge 30″ x 20″! I received them as a house-warming gift and honestly cannot say enough good things about them. I now use them 99% of the time, and hate when they are both in the wash.

$10 per towel is a pretty steep, but I promise you will like them ten times better than any other kitchen towel.

Do you have any household items you’re dying over? Please share, we love trying out new things!

Worth the Splurge: Clarins Bath Tonic

We are always trying hard to stretch our pennies and try our best to live frugal lives. However, we started our worth the splurge feature for when we need to share something really, really amazing. Drum roll please….

I was a little skeptical when my Mum showed this bottle to me and said it was worth its weight in gold. $30 for a shower gel, c’mon. One shower later and I was sold!

Just a pea-size of this heavenly essential oil concentrate will melt away all the worries of the world, and apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so. I had to look long and hard to find it. Nordstrom has discontinued it and Saks even has a limit on how much you can buy.

Prepare to be amazed at how this will rinse away all your holiday stress!!! This would also make the most amazing present for Christmas.

Sign up for Saks email and receive 10% off your first purchase. Also, free shipping and returns with code: HOLIDAY.
